Wayland is a city in Clark County, Missouri, United States. The population was 425 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Fort Madison–Keokuk, IA-MO Micropolitan Statistical Area.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 425 people, 196 households, and 111 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,549.6 people per square mile (607.8/km²). There were 220 housing units at an average density of 802.1 per square mile (314.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.53% White, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.94% of the population.
There were 196 households out of which 23.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.8% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.9% were non-families. 38.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 24.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.83.
